About The Founder
Founder Juan Wong started J & E Gourmet Foods in his kitchen in 2010 having spent his entire working career in the food industry from name brand restaurants to well known hotels. Juan, whose father is of African American and Chinese descent; and mother who is of African American descent was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. Juan spent over two years living in upstate New York before moving to Los Angeles, California in 1990. Being a dessert lover, he was searching for a much more healthier way to enjoy desserts. Juan began experimenting with vegan baking thus creating a line of oatmeal cookies that is sure to please the palate. Growing up in Charleston, his father often would prepare Chinese food for the family and his mother always cooking and baking lowcountry cuisine; food has always been a part of their family tradition.
